While branding stock at the Sheridan ranch, A.Y. Cook had a leg broken. Dr. French set the injured member.
If the blizzards turned out so far in the East a fair sample of what is to come, the predictions of a hard winter will be fully realized — in that section of the country at least.
Herman is dead! And Mr. and Mrs. Saltmarsh are bowed down with grief. He was a member of the Saltmarsh family for 10 years, and although he took up very little space, he will be missed. After a very brief illness, Herman gave up the ghost and entered dog heaven Tuesday night.

Guy Stealey of Buford was a Meeker visitor this week.
Weather good most of the week, but a bit murky and windy the past two days.
Last week, John R. Clark purchased the James Sheridan residence on west Park Avenue and took possession on Wednesday of this week. This fine residence was formerly the Hulett property. Mr. and Mrs. Clark now own one of the finest homes in Meeker.

As the hearing for the 3.2 beer license for the Alley Cat produced no one to object personally, four trustees voted to grant it with two abstensions.
The energy crisis and the senior trip were topics of discussion at the Monday night meeting of the Meeker School District Re-1 Board. A four-day school week was also mentioned but did not receive much support from the Board.
Student scores weren’t high but comments were good at the Prism Invitational Speech Meet at Mesa College in Grand Junction on Saturday. Eight Meeker High School students participated in the meet with Terry Duke receiving the best score.

Pioneers Hospital in October posted one of the best months in a number of years, and one of its best October accounting periods in hospital history. That news was the highlight of the board of trustees meeting on Dec. 8. Mr. Dunham did not offer a specific opinion on why October was a chart buster for the hospital, but said simply that a lot of sick people sought help at the hospital and the health center.
Recently, Meeker’s Thomas R. Griffin was aboard a warship that helped destroy an inbound missile before it could do harm. While such missile exercises are routine in the Navy, the one Griffin took part in promises to change the way the sea service does business.
The Meeker Cowboys boys basketball team hosted the annual Cowboy Shootout basketball tournaments and played three games. The Cowboys went all out in each game but were still unable to win a game.

Lou Ann Vidakovich of Rangely, Colorado, was presented a $200 scholarship recently by James McNear, vice president of the Colorado Rural Electric Association. Lou Ann’s scholarship accompanies the title Miss Colorado Rural Electric, which she won at the Colorado Rural Electric Association annual meeting in Cortez in late September.
Robert Lou Riggins Field Manager for Reda Pump Company, was elected president of the Rangely Area Chamber of Commerce at a luncheon meeting on Tuesday.

On Nov. 19 and 20, five CNCC faculty members traveled to Tidewater Community College in Norfolk, Virginia, for a workshop on international education.
