Dear Editor:
I would like the opportunity to respond to the articles about Mind Springs and West Springs Hospital.
I don’t have any personal experience or knowledge about the policies and turmoil going on at the upper levels of management of either entity. However, I do have personal experience with the frontline employees of Mind Springs offices in both Meeker and Rangely, here in Rio Blanco County and I do have personal experience with the frontline staff at West Springs Hospital in Grand Junction in Mesa County.
These people are kind and caring. They go out of their way to give individuals the help they seek when they need it. The counselors at Meeker and Rangely provide clients a secure, safe place to deal with mental health issues. They help concerned family members of their clients, as families learn to cope with challenging situations. They are always professional and they act as professionals.
Whether you are dealing with the loss of a loved one or going through a serious mental illness or crisis they support you and your need for help. You are their personal priority.
The on-ward staffs at West Springs Hospital deal with patient’s treatments on a one-on-one basis, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The staff treat their patients with dignity and they care for each person as the person struggles to deal with serious, difficult times in their lives. The staff does this because they truly care and want to help patients get better. Their care for patients is obvious to me.
I am grateful for each every one of these special people. They give hope to the hopeless. They teach coping skills to people dealing with difficult and heart-wrenching situations. Their goals are to enhance the quality of their clients’ and patients’ lives. They enable people to heal, to hope and to live.
Theirs is a noble profession and I honor them for their dedication to their fellowman. I give thanks for their presence in my life and lives of countless others.
Life is precious and their service, their care is princess. Thank you for letting me remind them and those they help of how important they are to so many of us.
Gratefully,
Oakley Hopkins
Rangely
