MEEKER I Eastern Rio Blanco Metropolitan Recreation and Park District was the recipient of a $4,500 grant from the U.S. Tennis Association.
With the grant, ERBM was able to initiate a QuickStart tennis program and provide additional recreational opportunities for the community. Not only does QuickStart introduce youth to the game of tennis, but it also works on developing agility, balance and coordination.
“It’s a great program and we’re fortunate to be able to bring it to the community,” said Recreation and Park District executive director Scott Pierson.
The grants are designed to support community-based organizations that are seeking funding to support their tennis programming, project and equipment needs. ERBM was one of 38 agencies to receive this grant.
“Thanks to the USTA grant, several members of the recreation district staff have received training, which qualifies them as QuickStart instructors,î said recreation manager Nicole Dupire. “We are looking forward to offering more tennis in early 2010.”
