The White River is running exceptionally low this time of year as drought conditions continue across the basin. U.S. Geological Survey data show flows well below historic averages. A standing call associated with the Rio Blanco Water Conservancy District’s Kenney Reservoir water right has also constrained upstream diversions, but all in all, there just isn’t that much water to go around in the first place. Emergency releases from Kenney are being used to maintain water availability for Rangely, which is under stage three water restrictions.
