MEEKER I The JV Cowboys lost a wild, high-scoring game to Craig 56-42. Cowboy JV coach Obediah Deming’s team led for most of the game, until a few bad breaks led to Craig’s win.
Meeker showed outstanding offensive play as the team had 497 yards in total offense with 20 first downs.
They were led by sophomore fullback JC Henderson with 200 yards rushing, plus outstanding running by tailback Jeff Wagner, a 160-pounder with outstanding speed.
All-around good play by the total offensive unit was a highlight for this game and these young players. Hats off to the offensive play of the line led by tackles Samarripa and Roybal, offensive guards Ricky Jeffrey and Jake Roland, offensive center Joseph Newman and lead blocking by Justin Giao. Dylan Mobley directed the high-scoring offense in the second half.
On the defensive side, leading tacklers were Bruno Juarez, Aaron Cochran, Levi Dinwiddie, Dylan Mobley, Matt Frantz, Ruben Roybal, Anthony Watt, Tony Collins, Luis Samarripa and Issac Robertson. Tristin Pelloni had an outstanding play with a diving interception late in the game.
