MEEKER | The lady Cowboys are now 4-0 in their league and 9-2 overall, with a decisive 69-11 win Friday at home against Caprock, and another win on Saturday, the girls are ranked 15th in the state.

Kristen Brown and Sarah Kracht led the team in scoring Friday, and head coach Jamie Rogers commented that we also had “some good contributions from the bench.”

On Vail Christian’s home turf Saturday, “the first half was slow,” Rogers said, “but the girls came out in the third and took control.”

Going into the locker rooms at halftime the score was 30-21. Then in the third quarter the Cowboys added an additional 21 points and held Vail Christian to only 10. The final score was 57-40.

Kracht was once again lead scorer with 17 points, Julia Dinwiddie contributed 14 and Brown 11. Dinwiddie also was top off the boards with six offensive rebounds and eight defensive.

This coming week the team will travel to Debeque. “This is a young team that is fast, really fast,” commented Rogers, “We are going to have to move our feet.”

Saturday the team will return to their home court, the Paonia Eagles will come to Meeker, JV will begin at 1 p.m., girls’ varsity at 2:30 p.m., and boys’ varsity at 4 p.m.
