MEEKER | Lady Cowboys have a new sport in 2021, Golf! Head Coach Amanda Back is in her first year of coaching so this is a monumental year for Lady Cowboy Golf.
“It’s very exciting for us to have a golf team,” said Back.
The team has three freshmen on its roster, Vivian and Wagner Brown and Jayda May.
Their practices began on April 19 at the Meeker Golf Course and attended their first tournament on April 23 at Chipeta in Grand Junction. The Brown girls are the only ones who attended their first tournament as May was still playing volleyball due to the overlapping seasons in this COVID year.
Chipeta is a par 59 course, V Brown shot a 133 and W Brown shot a 121.
“They did a great job for their very first golf tournament of the year,” commented Back.
They have six regular season tournaments on the books, and the next one is May 6 at Cobble Creek in Montrose.
