MEEKER | The Cowboys had another week with just one match, hosting North Park on Friday afternoon.
Meeker got it done in three sets winning 25-6, 25-20 and 25-12.
“We have been talking about increasing our points per set,” commented head coach Greg Cravens. “Against North Park we were able to earn 17 points per set.”
Ainsley Selle and Rylee Sullivan took charge at the net with 10 kills each and Natalie Kracht and Reese Clatterbaugh each added six more. The Cowboys had 40 kills and added seven more offensive points from serving, led by Ellie Hossack who had four. Defensively they picked up another five points with blocks from Adi Selle, Kracht, Ainsley and Clatterbaugh.
“I think we would make a good run in the playoffs if we could maintain a 17 point scoring average,” commented Cravens. “The girls had a hitting efficiency of 0.231, the best of the season and serving a ratio of seven aces to just four errors.”
Tuesday night was the final regular season home game for the Meeker cowboy volleyball. The Cowboys beat Val mountain three sets to one.
The eight seniors and their parents were honored: Jayda May, Hossack, Kracht, Ainsley Selle, Shyana Kurth, Celine Lozano, Emily Hamm and Graycee Richardson.
The team will travel to Olathe on Friday, closing out their league schedule.
The Cowboys finish the season with a tournament in Buena Vista on Oct. 28.
