MEEKER | Meeker girls basketball is “building brick by brick,” said head coach Jamie Rogers. The Cowboys are 0-6 for the year after last week’s games.
“Each game they find a better flow together as a team,” said Rogers, “We are excited and hopeful as we start into our league schedule we will have our full team back.”
Last Thursday the Cowboys hosted Basalt, the Longhorns came out fast but the Cowboys came back strong closing the gap to within one, and in the final minutes Basalt was able to pull ahead for the win 55-44.
Sarah Kracht and Ainsley Selle led the team with a combined 28 points. Selle also had six rebounds just behind Hadley Franklin who had seven.
With the day off on Friday the team looked to Soroco for their next game. The final score was 61-45 and Kracht once again at the top of the boards with 23 points.
This week the C team will take home court on Thursday against Grand Valley beginning at 4:30 p.m. Friday both JV and Varsity will travel to West Grand games beginning at 4 p.m.
“We have our league game this weekend with Hayden,” commented Rogers, “and the one we missed is rescheduled for March 2, and that is the only one we have missed thus far.” Saturday’s league games against Hayden which will start at 1 p.m. with JV.
“We are so appreciative of the extra time and work scheduling is taking this year,” wrapped up Rogers.
When this weekend wraps up the Cowboys will have five regular season games remaining.
