Meeker | Soroco proved to be no match for the Cowboys as Meeker won in three sets, 25-19, 25-13 and 25-15.
After two weeks of top ranked teams, head coach Greg Cravens said it was “just what the doctor ordered for our team. “We were tired and beat up a little bit and it was nice to only have one match.”
Ainsley Selle, Rylee Sullivan and Reese Clatterbaugh combined for 20 kills. In further offensive stats Taylor Garcia served up two aces and added 20 digs to her class 2A leading stat and both Ellie Hossack and Graycee Cravens split the setting duties.
“Soroco was at our team camp this summer and played well, so we knew we needed to be ready,” commented Cravens.
“I thought we played defense from the back row well,” said Cravens. “We did a great job of getting the ball to the setter on the net, and we have been practicing on this all week.”
This week is another one of the road for the Cowboys. Friday at Vail Christian with C team beginning at 4 p.m. and then Saturday at Rangely with C team beginning at 11 a.m.
“This week will be a good one,” commented Cravens. “Vail Christian and Rangely are both top teams in the league and we need to be at our best on Friday and Saturday as we are playing them on their home court.”
