MEEKER | The lady Cowboys dominated the Little Snake Rattlers 59-43 at home last Saturday.
“We started a little slow in the first quarter,” commented head coach Jamie Rogers, “then we came to play.”
At the end of the first quarter Little Snake was up 14-10, but by halftime the Cowboys had rebounded and went to the locker rooms up by one 25-24.
“Little Snake is a well-coached team and they like to play fast,” said Rogers, “we changed up the defense and added pressure for the win.”
Julia Dinwiddie was top leader off the boards with 10 rebounds and offensively sophomore Sarah Kracht led the team in scoring with 21 points and Dinwiddie had 16.
“We got worn down in the third quarter but powered through and stepped up,” commented Rogers. In the fourth quarter the Cowboys outscored the Rattlers 24-8 to seal the win.
“The girls really had to play full throttle the entire game and played well,” Rogers said.
Meeker now looks to league play on Friday hosting West Grand. Girls’ varsity will follow boys’ JV tentatively scheduled for 5:30 p.m.; Saturday at North Park varsity is slated to begin at 2:30 p.m.
