Dear Editor:
After reviewing the Gary Moyer Recall Ballot online, I came across some issues I must address concerning his statement:
First: Moyer states “They are not concerned with the cost of the election or the impact on the stability of our county.” Why was it that in 1987, it was fine for Moyer to be involved in the recall of TWO RBC County Commissioners (Allen Jones and Kenneth Kenney), but it is not OK to recall Moyer now? Rest assured, Moyer, that the county will survive and remain stable without you — no matter what happens.
Second: In Moyer’s statement, “The clerk and recorder that sent you this ballot and the people behind the recall are upset about these budget cuts and how they impacted them personally.” I need to correct Moyer. I was not impacted personally, and it actually affected very few of us on the committee. There were other actions by Moyer that led to this recall.
Third: Moyer had 12 references to himself using “I, me and my.” I could not find any references to YOU, the citizens of Rio Blanco County. Perhaps Moyer and others could use a little refresher on what an elected official’s job is. They work for YOU.
Voters of Rio Blanco County, please read your ballot carefully. You have only one vote, and I urge you to be wise before casting it. It is important to send a message to current and future commissioners (as well as other elected officials) no matter how many months they have left. Rio Blanco County elected officials serve YOU, the public, not themselves.
