Dear Editor:
I will be voting for Emily Tracy for State Senate because she knows how important it is to give Colorado kids the tools they need to get ahead. For more than 20 years, she worked in child protection helping foster kids find stable homes and making sure they have the support system they need to thrive in their communities. Additionally, she remains on the board for Colorado CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) a terrific organization that helps match adult volunteers with vulnerable children to ensure they have an advocate in the judicial system. Emily has been a hard-working civil servant who is committed to helping kids and students reach a successful future. Colorado is increasingly seeing school funding cut and social services undervalued. I know she would bring her expertise and compassion for kids to the State Senate and represent the diverse interests of Senate District 8. Emily also cares about our public lands. She wants to preserve and take care of all the land that so many of us enjoy. Emily knows that public lands within Colorado are a huge part of our economy. Ski resorts operate on US Forest Service land, ranchers graze cattle on federal lands, people hunt, fish, camp, hike, raft, use their OHVs etc on Federal land. Her opponent, Randy Baumgardner, wants to sell our public land to the highest bidder. He sponsored four bills that would require or encourage turning a significant amount of federal land over to the state. Those four bills are: SB13-142, SB14-077, SB14-091, and SB15-232
