Dear Editor:
How long does it take for an idea to come to a possibility then to a reality? How about almost three years.
Many times ideas are discussed around a table of good food and conversation then the seed has been planted and someone takes the idea and makes it happen. This is what happened with the Bank Robbers Trail and Historical Points of Interest project.
I took this idea as a challenge to learn more about the history of our county.
I cannot take the credit as it has become a community project.
I will attempt to name the people that had their hands in this historical information gathering and creating.
Starting with RBC Historical Society members, White River Museum staff, library staff, county staff and city staff, Chamber of Commerce staff, Meeker merchants, school teachers, Bank of the San Juans. Meeker Hotel, Nana Goose, school district, Cemetery Board and staff, BLM, the Herald Times, ERBM Parks and Rec center and staff, White River Electric, and Identity Graphics and staff of Craig and all the people I called and picked your brain for a fact to add to the information gathering.
Thank you to the Historical Society for the beautiful plaque.
The project is not finished but history is never finished. Keep watch on Facebook and the paper when the next historical signage is finished. Come join us and share your history.
If I have forgotten to mention you in this list please forgive me. I am the winner in this project as I have learned so much and feel blessed living in this community.
