Thank you to the Meeker Fire Dept.
Dear Editor:
We would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all of our neighbors that helped us put out a hay fire on our property on Sunday afternoon. They were so helpful while we waited for the Fire Department, and we thank you for helping in such a scary situation. Everyone was so kind and checked in on us in the days following. We love our community and their kindness and willingness to help!

Dear Editor:
Thank you Rio Blanco County! It was great to see our community turn out both to watch and to volunteer as our hometown event highlighting mustangs continues to grow every year into an event that brings visitors and buyers from as far away as Oregon, Louisiana, Kentucky and more.
It was exciting to see the stands fill with locals and visitors alike as we saw our trainers showcase their amazing work this year with both Piceance horses as well as a herd from Nevada.
With an $18,000 sale price for the top selling horse, it was gratifying to see the higher prices the trainers got reflecting their hard and courageous work. With more than $17,000 in prize money, our champion trainer Johna Pink received a first prize of $7,500, thanks to the support of so many local businesses, our County, Town of Meeker, White River Electric and so many other businesses. Please thank our sponsors when you see them. We have highlighted each of them in our thank you ad this week.
Local businesses from across the county, and beyond turned out to support our marketing, our prize money, our scholarships. The Makeover is a 501c3, and all money raised goes back into next year’s event. (Trainers receive half the proceeds their horse sells for.) The Westernaires drill and trick riding team from Golden Colorado appreciated the warm welcome they received and want to return next year.
And to add even more excitement, we have just received news of a grant from the Federal government through the BLM to hire a part time executive director to help us become a more sustainable annual event. We will continue to need you, our community, to help us grow, and showcase our county, our beautiful natural resources, and the friendliness of our area as we strive to become a national event, growing every year with new features and more excitement while staying a home town event.
Thank you all for your help and support this year as we bring the world to Meeker and help find a happy home for every wild horse in the program.
Cheers,

Your input sought by Colorado State Patrol
Dear Editor:
Colorado is an amazing place to reside, visit and recreate! As the Chief of the Colorado State Patrol, I have the honor of leading a statewide law enforcement agency that provides many services and programs in an effort to make our communities safe, particularly our roadways.
We conduct a public survey every two years to answer the simple question, “How are we doing?” We want to ensure that our members and organization provide Colorado with the best service and support as we fulfill our mission to save lives. We also want to ensure that we live up to our Core Values of honor, duty and respect.
The online survey is open now until Sept. 20, 2024. The Colorado State Patrol is always striving to provide the best service and experience and with your help, we can be even better. I hope you will complete the survey at www.cspsurvey.com.
I encourage you to be candid with your feedback so that all the Colorado State Patrol members and I can better understand how we’ve met or exceeded your needs. Plus, even more importantly, we can learn how to improve.
We want to know how safe you feel about traveling on Colorado’s highways, the professionalism of our members and our services at the State Patrol.
Completing this survey should take about 3 minutes. We want to hear your thoughts.
This is a state-wide survey, so we hope people from every region of the state participate. This will give us the insight we need to move forward. Please share the link to this survey with your friends and family. Anyone who has interacted with a trooper, port of entry officer, emergency dispatcher, or professional staff member can help by sharing their experience.
I thank you in advance for your participation. What you have to say is important to me and drives changes for the future at the Colorado State Patrol. https://tinyurl.com/mvm64jb2
Sincerely,
Col. Matthew Packard
