Meeker Classic Sheepdog Trials wraps up its 37th year

MEEKER | The Meeker Classic Sheepdog Trials wrapped up Sunday, marking the event’s 37th anniversary. Held annually in Meeker, Colorado, the trials have been a fixture in the town each September since 1987.

This year’s event featured Bevis Jordan as the judge. Jordan, who hails from Northumberland, England, manages a 4,200-acre upland farm.

Jordan discussed his extensive experience with Sheepdog Trials: “About 40 years, first in the UK, then the United States and all over the world,” he said.

He also shared the travel time it took him to reach the town of Meeker: “I’m from England. It took me about 25 hours total in traveling from when I left my house to when I got here,” Jordan said.

Jordan reflected on his experience at this year’s trials, noting but the high quality of the organization: “Everything has been great. The organization is so good, and the sheep have been great. The set-out guys have been great. Everything—I can’t fault anything at all,” he said.

Jordan was also impressed by Meeker itself: “It’s absolutely beautiful. The organization is first class, and everything’s been really great,” he said.

The Meeker Sheepdog Trials Organization extends its gratitude to Bevis Jordan for his role in this year’s 37th anniversary event.

“It’s my pleasure, it was a pleasure to come,” Jordan said.
