Alex Murray was Meeker’s only JV runner, and he completed the difficult course in 30:39.
The girl’s varsity race had Julia Eskelson finishing in 11th place at 24:27 and Briar Meszaros crossing the line at 27:13, for 37th place.
The boy’s varsity race had some very strong competition.
Marshal Pool led the Cowboys with a solid sixth place finish in 19:45. Clay Anderson was the team’s second with a 23:23 44th place.
Finishing 51st and 52nd were Christopher Strate and Matthew Beck, respectively, at 23:58 and 24 flat.
Pake Burke was close behind with a 24:15 finish and 57th place followed by Josh Cochran coming in 64th place at 25:46.
“It is hard to know what to expect in Aspen, but the conditions this year were fantastic,” coach Marty Casey said. “It is certainly one of the few real cross country courses we get to run, and it is a great experience for the team.
“We expect the finish times to reflect the difficulty of the course, but we saw improvements from last year from most of the team.”
The Cowboys will be attending Rifle’s Invitational Thursday with the girls’ race at 4:40 p.m. and the boys following at 5:20 p.m.
