The Operation Christmas Child’s mission statement is “to provide God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world, to share the good news of Jesus Christ.”
The Shoebox Ministry was in full swing Nov. 13-20. Emmanuel Baptist Church was once again the collection site for the Meeker area, as local people either individually or with their church filled shoeboxes with items that they felt boys and girls anywhere in the world may need or want. It was a small way to show them their love for children everywhere. Before the children get a shoebox, they are presented with the gift of the good news of the Lord Jesus.
Luke 18:16 says, “let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for such is the Kingdom of God.”
The Town of Meeker collected 464 boxes and were part of the more than 12,000 shoeboxes collected on the Western Slope. Both Meeker and the Western Slope of Colorado set records this year in what they collected.
Thank you, Meeker, for being a part of this showing the children all over the world your love for them and for the Lord.
The Meeker community filled more than 400 shoeboxes with Christmas gifts this year for Operation Christmas Child. The program in Meeker is organized by members of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. This year’s toy drive broke a local record for contributions.
