MEEKER | The Cowboys were busy this past weekend, with back-to-back cross country meets Friday and Saturday. The fun started on Friday at Sweitzer Lake State Park in Delta. Briar Meszaros finished 23rd out of the 58 runners in the girls’ race, in 23:25. In the boys’ race, Matthew Beck had a new personal record (PR) of 18:18, and a 17th place finish. Pake Burke also PR’d at this meet, in 19:41, for 44th place. Josue Martinez was our third runner to finish, and 58th overall, at 20:56. The fourth teammate to the line, Ashdon Seibert, ran the course in 23:29, for 79th place. Greg Jones was close behind in 82nd place, and 24:20. Josh Dinwiddie ran in 27:19, for 84th place, and Josh Day was 86th, at 28:59. Zach Harman circled the lake in 33:20.
Meeker was right back at it on Saturday, this time at Loudy Simpson Park in Craig, for the Moffat County Invitational. The girls’ race was first again for the Cowboys, and Meszaros managed the course in 24:17, for 31st place. The boys’ race followed, and Beck finished in 15th place, at 19:25. Burke was our second again, in 20:38, and 31st. Martinez finished in 54th place, at 21:56, and Seibert ran the course in 23:13, for 66th place. Jones had a time of 25:11, for 81st, and Josh Dinwiddie was 86th, in 26:31. Josh Day made it in at 29:07 and 91st, and Zach Harman was 95th, finishing in 33:16.
“This is a tough weekend for the team, but I always like to see how well they push themselves for that second meet, and this year was no disappointment. I am seeing some nice improvements, and we still have a few weeks to go,” said coach Marty Casey. The Cowboys will be at Aspen’s Chris Severy Invitational on Saturday, with races starting at 9:30 a.m.
