MEEKER | Meeker cross country was in Rifle last Thursday, racing at the Rifle Creek Golf Course. The girls’ race was first, and Julia Eskelson was our only competitor this week. She had a great start and held good position throughout, finishing in 5th place with a new personal record of 20:19. The boys’ race followed, and Austin Russell led the Meeker boys, finishing in 17:14, and 4th place. Tannen Kennedy was our second to cross the line, in 68th place and 19:41. Unfortunately, there were some issues at the finish line, and the results for much of the race after that are unreliable. Josh Cochran was our next across the line, followed by Clay Anderson and then Pake Burke. Christopher Strate was our sixth to the finish, with Alex Murray, Josh Dinwiddie and Zach Harman rounding out our team. “I saw some great effort, and good races by all. We are looking forward to the Regional competition on Friday.” Meeker will compete in Delta at Confluence Park with the boys’ race at noon and the girls’ at 12:30 p.m.
