MEEKER | Coaches Willy Theos and Kyle Hooks hosted a first—in many years—Cowboy end-of-year golf banquet and expressed their excitement for a successful first year of the MHS golf team reinstatement. They recognized Nick Massey for speaking at the school board meeting in support of reinstating a golf team here in Meeker.
Varsity letters were earned by seven Cowboys in 2019, five of which are seniors: Massey, Phil Arnold, Jose Garcia, Tanner Ridgeway and Elijah Deming.
This year’s team awards are for team leader, Massey; most valuable player, Arnold; hardest worker, Pete Hanks; most improved, Chakwah Brink.
“We’re excited about younger players moving up and new team members for next year,” the coaches said. Colorado high school golf season typically begins about two weeks prior to the other fall sports. Those interested in joining the Meeker Golf team should contact the school before the first of August.
