“The girls played great at regionals,” Meeker High School softball coach Briana Williams said of her team, which qualified for the regional tournament in its inaugural season. Meeker played the state’s No. 6 seed, the Brush Beetdiggers, and lost 17-10 to finish third after a loss to host Cedaredge. Williams said Brush took a 7-0 lead after the first inning and her team “rallied back in the sixth to lead the game 10-7” before the Beetdiggers brought their bats back to life in the last inning.
