The head coach of the Meeker Track team is welcoming back five state placers to this years squad of 40 kids. Judd Harvey who placed in shot put, Ellie Hossack, Jayde Turner and Taylor Garcia who were three quarters of the girls 4×800 meter relay team.
”The girls have three returning relays and could qualify several individuals as well and the boys are younger minus Harvey and Smithers, but we have several guys that are working hard,” said Blunt.
Returning qualifiers are Ainsley Selle, Adi Selle, and Reese Clatterbaugh.
“The girls have almost all of their qualifiers back,” commented Blunt. “We have been really lucky this year so far with our weather. The kids have been able to get outside and practice on the track, work on handoffs, it’s always questionable in the mountains if that will be possible.”
The Cowboys have their first meet this Friday in Rifle.
“I am excited to see everyone start competing and figuring out what events they will do,” said Blunt.
