The Meeker tracksters are in full swing after finishing their first meet, the Rifle Invitational.
Out of 22 teams and hundreds of athletes, 12 Cowboys placed in the top six. Top of the group was Judd Harvey who took second with a personal best shot put throw of 46 feet 11.5 inches and the girls 4×100 meter relay of Ellie Hossack, Jayde Turner, Adi Selle and Ainsley Selle with a time of 53.51 seconds. Three Cowboys placed fifth, in discus Addie Knowles threw 94 feet 9.5 inches and then in shot Ruth Leblanc threw 29’ 5” and Cade Blunt 41’ 5.5”. The girls 4×400 meter relay of Turner, Taylor Garcia, Brayden Raley and Adi took sixth with a time of 4 minutes 41.28 seconds. The team will now push pause due to spring break and come back on March 28 for their home hosted meet.
The Cowboys kicked off the start of the 2024 track and field season in Rifle on March 15. They’ll return after Spring Break on March 28 for a home meet in Meeker.
