MEEKER I The Meeker High School girls’ volleyball team had a great victory against Hotchkiss on Saturday as they beat the Bulldogs in three straight games, 25-19, 25-17, and 25-12.
Hotchkiss came out on fire and the lady Cowboys had to battle back behind outstanding serving from Kassie Luce, who had three aces.
The offense was sparked by Reese Pertile, who had nine kills, and Jenna Walsh, who added six.
Pertile also had three single blocks and Halle Ahrens had two.
The defensive play shown by Meeker seemed to be the major advantage for the Cowboys as Avery Watt, LoriAnn Klinglesmith and Payton Burke seldom let a ball hit the ground.
The team will be busy this Homecoming week as they they hosted Grand Valley on Tuesday, they play Caprock Academy on Friday for Homecoming and Plateau Valley on Suturday afternoon.
The league play is well underway, and it looks to be up for grabs as the teams are extremely competitive.
The Meeker Cowboys hope to build on their strong defense going into the Homecoming weekend.
