RANGELY | Rangely’s eighth-grade middle school boys’ basketball season is off to a good start. They have played Craig, Meeker, DeBeque, Hayden and West Grand so far this year. Their only loss was against Craig. Their current record is six wins, one loss.
The game against West Grand was an exciting one this past Saturday. The Panthers were down by 12 points in the second quarter when they finally settled in. Their defense was phenomenal and they were able to make West Grand keep turning over the ball. The Panthers then turned those turnovers into made baskets.
By the end of the third quarter, Rangely was winning 29-25. They were able to keep the lead ending in a win with a final score of 37-31. The top scorer for Rangely was Marsten Wagner with 12, followed by Andrew Dorris with 10. Final score against Hayden was 34-15, Andrew Dorris led the scoring with nine points.
Rangely’s seventh-grade games were also successful this past weekend. They played and beat both Hayden and West Grand. Final score against Hayden was 28-4. Top scorer was Dalton LeBleu with 12 points, followed by Colin Zadra with six. Final score against West Grand was 44-6. Gage Fielder lead the scoring with 14 points.
Rangely’s seventh and eighth grade teams will travel to Steamboat this Saturday, where they will play Steamboat and Meeker.
