Mustang football ends season…

The 3rd/4th grade Mustangs traveled to Rifle Saturday for their last game of the season. New Castle’s boys showed up as a well-oiled machine and the Mustangs quickly realized they were playing their toughest opponent of the season. Big, fast, and efficient—the opposing team got on the scoreboard quickly and often. Meeker had many great plays and individual efforts, but could not overcome as a team. They look forward to next year’s meeting and better results. Coaches would like to thank all parents and families for their tremendous support throughout the season. Another round of huge applause goes out to Meredith Deming—the true “Mom” of Mustang football. Meredith’s tireless administrative efforts make the program possible. Our wonderful newspaper editor, Niki Turner, keeps the boys in the public eye and we thank her sincerely. courtesy photo
Meeker Mustangs 4th/5th grade final game of the season ended with a decisive win over New Castle 36-12. Meeker moved the ball well through the air and on the ground; the offensive line struggling a bit in the first quarter, they banded together and gave quarter back Ryan Sullivan time to successfully make his mark. The defense was strong on the line and on the backfield only allowing two touchdowns and no extra point conversions. It was a game were the entire team at all positions was successful. Ending their season 3-2-1 these boys fought hard every game with determination and grit. This final game brings an end to the Mustang career of half the team who now move on to be Meeker Cowboys!
