Mustangs finished the regular season at home on the perfect fall day for football.
Little Dudes were up first at 10 a.m. against a very tough squad from New Castle. Leading the game through the third quarter, a few hiccups led to a 21-20 loss.
“These kids have a lot of skill and determination and will continue playing great Meeker football next year,” commented coordinator Chris Lockwood.
Team Gold took the field at noon for a battle of unbeaten teams against New Castle. A very tough and tight battle saw team Gold getting its first loss of the season. A chance for redemption comes next Saturday when these two teams meet again in the Mountain West Youth Football Super Bowl.
Team Black finished up the day with a decisive win over visiting Carbondale. The win put Team Black in a three way tie for fourth place in the league. Winning a three way coin flip on Sunday, Team Black will also be traveling to Super Bowl day at Glenwood Springs for a revenge matchup against Aspen.
“The Mustangs enjoyed another great year of skills development and sportsmanship,” Lockwood said. “Coaches, parents, players and retiring Team Mom Danae are all to be commended for continuing the strong tradition of Meeker football.”
Please plan to attend Super Bowl day starting at noon next Saturday at Glenwood Springs high school. GO MUSTANGS!
