MEEKER | Despite last weekend’s wet and cold conditions, the third- and fourth-grade Meeker Mustangs outplayed Rifle, winning 19-6. Doak Mantle scored three touchdowns and an extra point for the Mustangs. Trapper Merrifield filled in at center with only two practices after Noah Mayerle was injured and unable to play. Despite the conditions, quarterback Wyatt Pfau managed to handle the ball. Defensively for Meeker, James Amick recovered a fumble and Tannen Kennedy, Chris Scherbarth and Garrett Frantz shut down Rifle’s offense. The fifth- and sixth-grade Mustangs had a bye. Next week, the third- and fourth-graders will have a bye.
