I keep hoping life will let up a bit, and it just keeps doing exactly the opposite. Unless youâre some sort of mythical creature, youâve probably experienced the same at one point or another. Hereâs a virtual hug and a pretend cookie if youâre getting put through the wringer, too. đ¤đŞ

So we persist again this week, thanks to community support. There’s one more edition to go before we begin our 141st year, and one of the (many) things keeping me up at night has been wondering how weâre going to keep things rolling for another 14 days, let alone 14 decades.
But, as with all the other circumstances that are out of my control right now, âIt is what it is, darlinâ. No choice but to go forward.â*
And forward we shall go. đ¤
*The best advice ever given to me by my favoritest Grandma Kookie, who passed away in 2017.
To this day, I can picture every detail of my 4-H intermediate sewing project. It was a purple butterfly-print A-line sleeveless dress (very â90s), and my 11-year-old self had worked so, so hard on it. The seams were pressed, the fabric was crisp and the hem was ⌠pretty straight. It was going to be a ribbon winner. I was sure of it!
When I got the judgesâ notes back, Iâm sure they said nice things about it. Only one comment is seared into my brain, though: âThe armholes are slightly different sizes.â
Thus began my lifelong struggle with perfectionism.

This week’s secret is that I sucked a label into our fancy Xerox machine and couldn’t figure out where it was or how to get it out. My efforts to fix it made it progressively worse. This was a tiny thing on top of really big things, but it just felt like too much.
I gave up and I cried and I ate some chocolate and then I bucked up and confessed to my husband, Mr. Fix It.
I suppose that makes me the rotund, orange and sweary Q*bert in this GIF, then. #accurate
And what did he do? He fixed it, at least enough for us to print essentials until a service guy can make it up here.
So… I guess this week’s lesson is to ask for help when you need it.
Ugh. Off to work on that. đ¨
