The day got away from me, as days do. I am going to continue blaming the day and not poor time management skills. Gosh, I better shut up now or I might ruin the illusion of ✨perfection✨ that clearly surrounds me.
(For those in the back, that is 100% pure grain sarcasm.)
It feels like most of my time has been eaten up by driving kids back and forth to sports this week, actually. I don’t know how I made sporty kids when I cannot even walk up the stairs, but here we are.
Cheers to huddling up in the furthest corner of the bleachers for the next few months, not understanding a lick of what’s happening. 🥂😭
Ok, enough about me. Let’s get to the news!
When we decided to spotlight the continued effects of the fires a year later, the main thing I focused on was grief, probably because of the parallel experiences happening in my own life right now. The flip side of that coin, and one I forget about, is the resilience grief can cultivate. There’s an element of choice in what happens next, of course. Circumstances can flatten people, but they can also reveal amazing determination. So far, there are no “victims” here. Despite some pretty difficult circumstances, everyone I’ve spoken to, on and off the record, has shown true pioneer spirit. I think we could all stand to learn a little bit from them.

- I spent a good chunk of yesterday trying to figure out what the heck is happening with the appointment process for the Meeker Library board. I’m very much hoping to have some answers before press time next week, but right now my understanding on the matter can be summed up very professionally as follows:
- In happy news: A missing person alert was issued for 85-year-old James Pelley on Tuesday evening. Thanks to the efforts of community members and Rio Blanco Search and Rescue, he was safely located early Wednesday.

This week’s secret honors the very amazing Dolly Parton and may not be a secret at all (IDK you guys, I try to stay super stealthy/incognito ninja and think no one recognizes me), but a couple years ago I was in the community play of 9 to 5.
Not as Dolly (obvs), but as Judy, which fits my personality wayyyy better.
In case that’s not enough of a secret because small town, here you go:
Every time I went backstage between scenes, my friend told me I looked like I was going to throw up and/or faint.
Wait, maybe that’s also not a secret considering my performance. 😂
This is meant to be motivational, I swear. IF I can handle the worst stage fright in the history of ever, I can certainly handle misbehaving public officials, angry parents, and that one guy who calls us every time we spell something wrong.
And YOU can handle whatever life is throwing your way, too! 💜
