Greetings and Happy Groundhog Day, or, for those of us in Rio Blanco County, Happy Yellow-Bellied Marmot Day!
“I’m a rodent, not a meteorologist.”
Our marmots are *supposed* to be hibernating until April or May, but we’ve had at least TWO confirmed sightings during our weirdly warm weather. Here’s hoping they’re just grabbing a lil’ snack and will descend back into their dens when/if the snow hits. We shall see!
Now that we’re all caught up on the weather happenings, let’s get to the news from this week’s edition.
Weekend plans?
First up, there will be a fundraiser dinner and auction for Cody Crooks this Saturday, February 3.
Cody is fighting brain cancer and the fundraiser will feature a live and silent auction to help support his recovery. Tacos and dessert will be provided by local restaurants, and there will be live music by the 8th Street Pickers. The event is at Smoking River Brewing Co. and begins at 5 p.m.
