Hello and SURPRISE!
It’s-a-me … Mario Caitlin, popping in to give mom/Niki a break, say HAAAIIII, and send along your community news roundup for the week of 7/11 (oh, thank heaven!)

Take a short recess from the Facebook message boards Real Housewives of Rio Blanco County and enjoy this week’s ACTUAL news!
Man, I haven’t thrown shade for WEEKS. Feels nice. OKAY, onward!
This week’s front page…
Mark your calendars!
⚡️⚡️⚡️ The school year is coming up lightning fast, but luckily we have a few opportunities to squeeze a little more fun out of summer!
Mark your calendars for these events:
- 🤠 Saturday, Aug. 10 is the Rio Blanco County Pioneer Association’s 112th Annual Dinner & Dance. This year’s theme is Boots & Roots: Celebrating Our Meeker Heritage. FUN FACT: everyone is now welcome! There’s no need to have lived here 30 years to be allowed to attend. *throws confetti* And that is … all I shall say about that. 👀
- 💃 Don’t forget to return your ballots for the WREA election by Noon Thursday, July 18. You also get one more chance to PALOOZE (it’s my made-up word and I’m sticking to it) Friday, July 19 at the last Meekerpalooza of the summer, brought to you by WREA, ERBM Recreation & Park District, Meeker Chamber of Commerce, and Meeker Arts and Cultural Council. There will be live music, a beer garden, FREE FOOD from WREA for their Annual Membership Appreciation Dinner, giveaways, the Meeker Market, and an all-around super-duper fantastic time. More details in the ad below!
- ⛳️ Pioneers Healthcare Foundation is hosting Putt for a Purpose, a 4-person scramble fundraiser, on Saturday, August 17. As I have been golfing exactly seven times in my life, I 100% cannot tell you what a 4-person scramble is, but I CAN tell you it’s for a good cause! Register for this event by calling or emailing Cindy Rholl, 970-878-9261 or [email protected].

Have a fun event happening, but don’t see it here? As we have mentioned a time or two (or a hundred), we aren’t omniscient (… for which many of y’all should be thankful).
We would LOVE to help spread the word about all the great stuff happening in our community, though! Send your details to [email protected] for a free community calendar listing, or better yet, advertise to more than 3,000 print and digital readers, 6,000+ social followers, and 20,000 web visitors at ht1885.com.

Lyttle Project Update
Some very smart people met this month to discuss the future of the Herald and the best way to continue this community’s effort to keep this historic newspaper in print. I am pretty darn stoked to share The Lyttle Project has received nearly $8,000 in additional funding since launching!
We are REALLY excited about all our itty bitty seeds of plans and hopes and dreams, and can’t wait to share more as they germinate!
Stay tuned!
Just Because: The Millennial Pause
I saw a reel on Instagram the other day where a realtor had his Gen Z employee edit a video for him. I cackled about it for MUCH longer than socially acceptable. (Lettuce not talk about how that’s actually a pretty normal thing for me.)
Definitely watch the video if you’re going to keep reading, because otherwise you’re not going to have any idea what the heck I’m going on about.
I checked out the comments (as one does) and I found a bunch discussing something called the “Millennial Pause”. Have any of you wiser and more worldly humans heard of this?! I hadn’t, but I now know I 100% suffer from this unfortunate affliction.
Kids. These. DAYS.
Well, *I* feel better. Apparently there was a LOT of pent-up sass in there.
Thank you, as always, for supporting community journalism! Don’t forget to hug your emotional support roosters.

😀
