ARRESTS
A 45 year-old male was arrested on 7/2/2024 for DUI, Vehicular Eluding, Reckless Endangerment, Reckless Driving, Obstructing Government Operations, Open Alcoholic Beverage Container and Open Marijuana Container. He remains in custody.
CALL SUMMARIES
6/30/2024 @ 2:14 pm. A backcountry rescue on County Road 53 was initiated due to a horse stepping on a female party. Due to the location, the patient was not accessible by ambulance. Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept. responded and hiked in to the patient’s location. Ultimately the patient was airlifted to a hospital.
7/1/2024 @ 10:37 am. A lightning strike caused a single tree fire on private property near County Road 7. Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept. responded and had the fire contained at 11:43 am.
7/2/2024 @ 12:41 pm. Several traffic complaints about a reckless driver on Highway 13 came into the Communications Center. When law enforcement attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle. The driver took off at a high rate of speed. A short time later the vehicle was located by law enforcement at the State fishing ponds near Sleepy Cat on County Road 8. The driver was taken into custody without incident for Driving Under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol, Vehicular Eluding, Reckless Endangerment, Reckless Driving, Obstructing Government Operations, Open Alcoholic Beverage Container and Open Marijuana Container.
7/4/2024 @ 8:57 pm. A brush fire was reported at approximately the 2 mile-marker on Highway 64. Artesia Fire Dept. responded and had the fire controlled at 10:08 pm. The estimated size that burned was 2 acres.
7/4/2024 @ 9:24 pm. A backcountry rescue was initiated near Forest Service 293 when an ATV got stuck and the 4 occupants were unable to get it out. Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept. responded and were able to get the parties out and back to their camp. No injuries were reported.
7/5/2024 @ 5:37 pm. A female party and her emotional support rooster along with her goat were contacted at the 35 mile-marker on Highway 13 after she believed she was being stalked. Upon the deputies’ investigation, there was no evidence of a crime. The female along with her rooster and new goat continued on their way to Utah.
