Obituary: Bob (Robert) Eugene Fairchild

Bob (Robert) Eugene Fairchild
July 1, 1928 ~ May 7, 2018

Bob (Robert) Eugene Fairchild, 89, passed away May 7, 2018, at Rangely District Hospital. He was born July 1, 1928, in Cheney, Kan., to Clarence and Caroline Fairchild. A Rangely resident since 1958, he was a retired Chevron pipeline employee of 25 years. He was a member of the Rangely Christian Church and the Masonic Lodge. He was the main originator for the baseball program that is now in Rangely, and he directed the building of the field and setting up of the summer program with the help of many others in the community. On Sept. 17, 1947, he married Phyllis Jean Evans in Great Bend, Kan., and they enjoyed 70 years of marriage.
Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports and most of all sitting in the patio swing watching the sun rise and set with his wife, the love of his life. Bob will be greatly missed by those who loved him but we are so happy to have had him for all of those years. We will miss his big hugs, laughter and smile. He is now in the arms of Jesus and those who have gone before him. He will be reunited with his son Bryan Charles who passed away so young, and a stillborn son, Randy Lee, who he will finally get to meet. He is survived by his wife Phyllis, son Rob, two daughters-in-law Brenda Halcomb-Fairchild and Alisa Warren-Fairchild, five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
We wish to express our gratitude and appreciation to those who have extended expressions of sympathy and offer of assistance during our time of mourning. Thank you for the cards, phone calls, visits, food, flowers and prayers.
We express our love and thanks to you for attending the viewing and or services for our beloved Bob. Our thanks to Blackburn and Sons Vernal Mortuary and the Rangely Christian Church. The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 12 at 1 p.m. at the Rangely First Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital either by phone at 1-800-822-6344 or mail checks (made payable to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital) to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.
