Obituary: Julie Grace McCrary

July 24, 1949 ~ Dec. 11, 2021

Julie Grace McCrary went home to be with Jesus and start her journey in heaven on Dec. 11, 2021. She was greeted at the gates of heaven by many loved ones waiting for her.

Julie (Gould) McCrary was born to her parents Edna Mae and George Gould on July 24, 1949, in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Julie grew up in Meeker, Colorado, and graduated from Meeker High School in 1967, during high school she participated in cheerleading. While attending school she met the love of her life, Michael Gene McCrary and they got married on Jan. 12, 1969. After getting married they moved to Glenwood Springs where she would spend the next 46 years and where they raised their two children, Pam and Shane. Julie spent most of her career as a bookkeeper and spent her time after retirement enjoying time with her kids, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many, many friends and family. She enjoyed watching the Colorado Rockies, Denver Broncos and the Denver Nuggets and cheering them on whether in the stands or in front of the TV. She loved to see wildlife and explore the mountains. One of her favorite weekend getaways was going to visit Estes Park and watching the elk in town. She was a woman of faith and a woman of Christ and set a great example of how to be just that. To know Julie was to love her. She was the most kindhearted person and would gladly give you her last cent if she felt like you needed it. Her entire family and friends were beyond blessed to have been loved by her and the way she showed her love. Julie is survived by her two children, Pam Harris of Rifle, and Shane (Anne) McCrary of Silt, and a few kids she took in as her own and loved as her own along the way (Sean, Todd, and Aaron Anderson of California, and Paul Roberts of North Dakota), her sister Carole O’Connor of Washington and sister-in-law Kim Gould of Meeker. She is also survived by her four grandchildren who were the light of her life, Michael McCrary Jr., Haley (Luke) Turner, Kylee Harris, Robbie Harris and her two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Emmy Turner. Julie was preceded in death by her parents, Edna Mae and George Gould, her two brothers, Michael Gould and George Gould, and her husband, Michael McCrary. Services will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021, at New Creation Church in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

  1. So sorry to hear of her passing! She was a wonderful woman and friend to our family. Praying for her family!

  2. Julie McCrary was a great cousin and a great friend. She was always there to listen to you when you need to talk to someone. I’m going to miss her big time! She was always ready to go to Heaven to see God and be with sweetheart Michael McCrary and with the rest of her family. God Bless You Cousin Julie ????????????????????????????????

  3. What a beautiful tribute. It is very apparent that Julie leaves a legacy of faith, love and servant hood. Our hearts and prayers are with you. We wish we could be at the funeral Saturday as you celebrate what Julie meant to each of you. No doubt my mom welcomed her cousin to Heaven with great joy. God bless. – Kristi Wright
