Obituary: Lyle Clinton Ottosen

On March 8, 1946, Lyle Clinton Ottosen was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo., to Byron and Vera Ottosen. He was raised on a ranch three miles west of Meeker.

He attended school in Mesa, Ariz., and Meeker, having been graduated from Meeker High School in 1964. After graduation, he entered into the military, serving the United States Army in Germany and Vietnam until being honorably discharged in 1966.
After serving his country he returned to the Meeker area. Here, he met his wife, Glenna McCormick. They were married in Rangely, Colo., on May 23, 1968. They were sealed in the Denver Temple on July 8, 1988. He retired from Colowyo Coal in 2011.
Lyle held numerous positions within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and he served for several years in the Vernal Temple.
The couple moved to Fruita in 2012, and he continued to serve the church.
Lyle Clinton had a love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also loved his family and grandchildren.
He passed away on March 4, 2015, from illness, surrounded by loved ones at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Denver.
He is survived by: his wife, Glenna Ottosen; sons Michael and Tiffany Ottosen and their children, Sheridan and Kobe of Silt, Larry and Laura Ottosen and their children, Sydney and Trystan of Thornton; and sisters: Shirley Fliegel of Vernal and Jo Ann and Fred Findlay of Grand Junction. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Byron and Vera; and two brothers, Duane Peter and Byron Lavar,
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Meeker LDS Church in Meeker. Friends and family may call one hour prior to services at the chapel. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of the Blackburn Vernal Rangely and Meeker Mortuaries, www.blackburnvernalmortuary.com
