Re-1 School District to seek increased tax mill levy

MEEKER I Meeker School District RE-1 voted Aug. 20 to seek an increase in taxes on the Nov. 5 ballot, raising income to fund the district’s current $540,000 budget deficit, to maintain classroom size and support staff, and to add to the district’s capital reserve fund.

Suit filed to stop in-city fracking

A Loveland citizen has filed with the City Clerk’s Office a protest of petitions seeking a ballot measure setting a two-year moratorium on the practice of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, to recover oil and gas within the city limits of Loveland.

BLM, vets, youth join to fight fires

Tara Earl is a member of the Rocky Mountain Youth Corp Veterans Fire Crew, which has been training to fight fires, has mitigated fire-supporting conditions and forage and has even fought a wildland fire in Rio Blanco County this summer.
