Dear Editor: A resolution was recently passed by the Denver City Council taking the position against a potential nation enhancing oil shale industry from using any Colorado water to extract oil. The council’s position was supported in their final vote of seven “yes,” two “no” and two “abstain.”

Larry Modlin “pays it forward”

MEEKER I Larry Modlin, a Meeker High School alumnus and son of Nettie Faye and the late Lon Modlin, is retiring after 47 years of running his own businesses. At 67 he looks forward to skiing with his twin grandsons who also live in Greeley.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the local VFW Post 5483 presented the colors at the Meeker v. Moffat County wrestling dual last Friday and will present them again this Saturday before matches with Rangely, Battle Mountain, Hayden, Basalt and Soroco starting at noon.
