RANGELY | The Rangely Junior High boys’ basketball team hosted Craig and South Routt County (Soroco) this weekend. The eighth grade A team played a tough game against Craig but lost 23-41. Sydney Cole was top scorer with 15, followed by Gabe Polley with four, RJ Richens with two and Justin Cudo with two.
The eighth grade B team also played Craig but came up short losing 13-26. Gabe Polley had five points while Justin Cudo, Raiden Ganser, Liam Mounce and Sydney Cole all helped by scoring two points each.
The eighth grade A team also had a game against Soroco.
“The guys played hard and were able to keep the lead,” said coach Jessica Fortunato. At half, Rangely was winning 19-14. The final score was 38-35, leaving Rangely with the win.
“Sydney Cole and Gabe Polley both had a great game. Sydney had an amazing 26 rebounds and 13 points,while Gabe had 14 rebounds and 19 points,” Fortunato said. Justin Cudo, RJ Richens and Austin Davis all had two points, as well.
The boys will be traveling to Craig this coming Saturday, Dec. 10, for the district tournament.
