The Panther volleyball team traveled to Manilla, Utah, on Friday, Sept. 23. The JV team played the best-of-five sets and ended up playing three; 23-25, 20-25 and 7-15. The Manilla team was mostly made up of varsity players, so JV did really well keeping up with them. Addie Scott led the team in kills with seven followed by Abrianna Tapia, Sidney Lujan, Kolbee Files and Gracie Varner all with three. Abrianna Tapia had two solo blocks. Tylee Fielder had 19 digs followed by Sidney Lujan with nine and Aubrianna Tapia and Paola Munoz both with eight. The varsity team was slow to get moving against Manila and couldn’t get things going. Manila swept the Panthers in three sets. Kaitlyn Cox led with four aces. Kyrah Phelps and Annika Cantrell led the team in kills with five apiece with Lexi LeBleu and Ashlynn Ducey chipping in four each. Miley Chism led with 15 digs defensively.
Sept. 24 the Panthers traveled to Meeker. The Panthers were led in serves by Aubrey Kenney with two aces and four unanswered points. Zoey Britt led the team in attacks with five kills and Kaelyn Geer lead the team in passing with 14 passes and nine digs. Rangely lost the first game 13-25 and lost the second 17-25. The freshman team is continuing to play better. The Panthers lost in two sets, 21-25 and 24-26. Kenzie Satterly led the team in aces with four and Courtney Files had one. Scott led the team in kills with four followed by Tapia, Lujan, Files and Varner all with two. Tapia had four solo blocks and Lujan had one. Fielder led the team in digs with 20 followed by Satterly with 12 and Lujan with 11. Varsity took to the floor knowing Meeker’s caliber of play. Varsity was up to the challenge but fell short. The Panthers had moments of good things but were not consistent throughout play and fell in three straight sets to Meeker. Phelps led the team in kills with seven with Cantrell with four. Phelps also led in digs with 13 with Emma Smith behind her with 11.
