MEEKER | Bring your family and friends to the annual quilt show that features a wide range of amazing talents from modern day to heritage items. Open to the public, you can visit Friday, Sept. 8 from 12-5:30 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 9 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Fairfield Center (200 Main St.) in Meeker.
Admission is $4 and all the money raised supports scholarships and grants to young women seeking an advanced education. Sponsored by the local Meeker P.E.O. Chapter BA, this is the 11th year of annual quilt shows.
Every year, different quilts are on display. Our local quilters share their latest creations. Collectors of quilts and folks who have inherited quilts loan their treasurers for this special event. It’s a combination of newly minted and aged works sometimes passed down through families through the years.
The quilts are not for sale. However, you can enter a drawing for the opportunity quilt, featured in photo, which is currently on display at the Sweet Shop (315 Sixth St.) or see it in person at the show. Tickets are six for $10 or $2 each. Advance tickets can be purchased at Rocky Mountain Hair Benders located at 640 Main.
You can also purchase homemade pastries made by the local P.E.O. members with packaging assistance from FCCLA students. Treat yourself and your family to a pie, cupcakes or cookies and support a good cause.
The Meeker P.E.O. Chapter BA was established in 1919 and continues a long tradition of sisterhood, community support and educational opportunities for women. P.E.O. is a state, national and international organization that continues to honor the same goals established more than 100 years ago.
