RANGELY | Rangely trustees met March 14 and 28 in regular meetings. Business conducted at those meetings is as follows:
Trustees approved an application for a Colorado Tourism Office grant in the amount of $3,000 for social media; the Town’s match for this is $2,000.
The board also approved the 2022 audit by ColoCPA Services, PC, in the amount of $12,600. Town Manager Lisa Piering suggested that ColoCPA services continue to perform the audit as they have for the last three years. Motion passed.
Committee updates included a Main Street program meeting that discussed how the Town could move to the next level, which offers more benefits and higher funding. The RDA/RDC meeting discussed ongoing and anticipated projects and funding opportunities.
Discussions ensued about water diversion and the water treatment plant with Heather Sauls of the Bureau of Land Management in anticipation of a meeting to further discuss the Wolf Creek Reservoir project.
Piering, Rangely Police Chief Ti Hamblin and Lieutenant Richard Garner attended a work session with the Rio Blanco County Commissioners to discuss licenses for Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD)..
Discussion regarding the application for Modification of Premises from Kum & Go LC to create a shelf in their existing alcohol section for wine sales. The Board and Kum & Go Manager Alexandra Pierce discussed the logistics and placement of a shelf to protect alcohol inventory. This discussion was tabled until Pierce could review the Board’s concerns and expectations with Kum & Go’s corporate office. Janet Miller and Police Chief Ti Hamblin have submitted approvals for the application, with stipulations about underage access. Pierce affirmed that the employees and management put forth their best efforts to protect against shoplifting and underage access. The Board ultimately agreed that the additional display is acceptable, and the type of shelf/cabinet is the issue. Town Manager Lisa Piering suggested that the issue be tabled until the April 11, 2023, meeting.
Trustees approved a contract for professional services between Rio Blanco County and the Town of Rangely for building inspection services. This contract will allow the Town to utilize the county inspector’s services. It will not include permitting.
Piering updated the Board about meetings with the Northwest Council and Town Engineer Jocelyn Mullen regarding grant applications. The grant application for the Energy/Mineral Impact Assistance Fund grant is due this week. The town will work with an economist from Colorado State University to help with the needed financial figures.
The State of Colorado wants to take over local patrol of large, open areas, and Piering will attend a Town Hall for more information on the matter.
The Wolf Creek kick-off call happened the week of this meeting.
Piering and Economic Director Jeannie Caldwell will meet with Moon Lake Electric the first week of April to discuss the College View subdivision and lines laid. The subdivision will also be discussed in upcoming Planning and Zoning committee meetings.
Public works will begin filling more potholes and street sweeping.
Raw water might not be available on April 15.
