MEEKER | Noting that Meeker General Mercantile sold over 100 chicks last weekend, with another shipment expected this weekend, Meeker Trustee Melissa Kindall asked about the town’s codes for keeping chickens within town limits. Town Manager Mandi Etheridge said she would need to review the specific codes.
Trustee Tiffany Jehorek suggested requiring certified weed-free hay at Ute Park to prevent spreading noxious weeds.
Trustees asked whether there were any updates on a proposed fire mitigation plan the county and the fire district were discussing last year. Etheridge said she hasn’t heard anything recently.
Etheridge told the board additional progress on the upstairs remodel at Town Hall is underway.
The planning commission and board will meet next Monday for a sketch plan review on a proposed planned unit development application received by the town.
In regular business, the board approved:
- A special event liquor license for the Lions Club for the Elk Foundation dinner on March 25.
- A sponsorship of $5,000 for the Meeker Mustang Makeover.
- A resolution in support of the GOCO grant application for Circle Park Phase 2.
- A $137K bid to TDA Construction for the Shaman Trail water line project.
- Letters of support for the county and the hospital to seek Congressional District Spending for cybersecurity upgrades.
- A new settlement agreement with the Colorado Attorney General’s office related to opioid addiction. The Colorado AG is seeking a settlement with five additional entities, two pharmaceutical companies and three pharmacies, for up to $300 million. Any funds awarded would be dispersed between supporting municipalities, and would likely be returned to a regional fund to be used to battle opioid addiction.
