RBC I On March 11, 2022 there will be a new Undersheriff serving Rio Blanco County, as current Undersheriff Jeremy Muxlow submitted his resignation in February. In a letter to Rio Blanco County staff, Sheriff Anthony Mazzola stated, “Jeremy has made a decision based on his priority of his family. I am very excited for him as he moves into the private sector.” He continued to praise Muxlow for his performance as a law enforcement officer and the leadership he brought to the Sheriff’s Office. “Jeremy is leaving this office in great standing and will be welcomed back if he ever decides to come back,” concluded Sheriff Mazzola.
As per State Statute, Sheriff Mazzola is responsible for appointing an individual to fill the vacancy of Undersheriff. Sheriff Mazzola, along with input from Muxlow, has chosen Lieutenant Travis Mobley, to be sworn in as the next Undersheriff of Rio Blanco County. Sheriff Mazzola explained that Mobley will become Undersheriff the moment Jeremy leaves at 1700 on March 11. Mobley will bring over 20 years of knowledge and experience to this position, “paired with solid morals and character and with utmost dedication to this office, I am very excited about what lies ahead. We have assembled an incredibly strong team who will continue to succeed for the citizens of Rio Blanco County,” continued Sheriff Mazzola.
Rio Blanco County Commissioner Ty Gates agreed, “I am sorry to lose Undersheriff Muxlow, as he is a wonderful person and member of our law enforcement team. I respect his decision to do what is best for him and his family. I strongly support Sheriff Mazzola’s appointment of Lieutenant Travis Mobley to the Undersheriff role. As a Meeker native, Lieutenant Mobley brings with him a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience. He understands our communities and way of life. I have full faith that he will do a superb job in his new role.”
