ARRESTS
A 32 year old male was arrested on 4/15/2023 for violating a protection order, 2nd degree assault and resisting arrest. He was granted a PR bond on 4/16/2023.
CALL SUMMARIES
4/9/2023 @ 12:57 am. A deputy patrolling Highway 64 came upon a large rock in the highway. The deputy was able to get the rock moved with no assistance.
4/9/2023 @ 10:15 am. Two male parties were contacted by Meeker PD after reportedly trespassing through a private backyard to get to a hiking trail. The two males were warned and told to enjoy their walk on the public trails.
4/9/2023 @ 2:25 pm. A cow was reported walking in the middle of Highway 139 (maybe going on an Easter egg hunt). A deputy was able to get the cow back into the pasture.
4/11/2023 @ 12:54 am. Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office assisted Rangely PD with an open door at business in the town limits of Rangely
4/11/2023 8:31 pm. A party driving a four wheeler slid into a power pole on County Road 23A. There were no injuries however the power went out for a short time.
4/12/2023 @ 7:32 pm. A trespasser was caught on camera at a business located in Meeker. Upon the officer’s investigation the trespasser was a relative of the property owner so there was no crime.
4/12/2023 @ 7:49 pm. What was initially thought to be a human body in the river near County Road 46 turned out to be a goat.
4/13/2023 @ 9:28 am. A burglary was reported at a cabin on the east side of unincorporated Rio Blanco County. A possible suspect(s) have been identified. Deputies are continuing to follow up on the case.
4/13/2023 @ 5:57 pm. A resident in the town limits of Meeker reported a suspicious item in their yard. It turned out to be an item that was left over from Halloween.
4/14/2023 @ 8:21 pm. An eagle hit a drivers vehicle window near the 38 mile-marker on Highway 13. Colorado Parks and Wildlife handled the call.
4/15/2023 @ 12:15 am. A male party was arrested by Meeker Police Dept. While waiting for a sober driver to come pick up the male and get him out of the residence, the intoxicated male party became combative with the officer and a deputy with the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office that was assisting. The deputy sustained minor injuries.
4/15/2023 @ 10:49 am. A traffic complaint was called in regarding a semi that was following too close near the 43 mile-marker on Highway 13. A Meeker PD officer located the semi and the driver was warned for following too close.
There were a total of 11 calls this week regarding either rocks in the road or rockslides on the roadway.
Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office attended the Rangely kids health fair on Friday April 14.
