ARRESTS

There were no arrests for the week of August 13, 2023

CALL SUMMARIES

8/13/2023 @ 2:55 PM. An intoxicated female caused a disturbance at a residence in the town limits of Meeker. Meeker PD and Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office responded. The female was detained and later released. 

8/14/2023 @ 4:42 pm. A brush fire was reported near Hunter Creek. BLM Fire dept. handled the fire and did not need additional resources. 

8/15/2023 @ 10:31 am. A one vehicle crash occured at the 37 mile-marker on Highway 139. The truck was fully loaded with asphalt as well as diesel. The driver had minor injuries. 

8/15/2023 @ 9:38 pm. A suspicious person was called in to the dispatch center because the reporting party had never seen the person before. An officer arrived and the suspicious party was on a public sidewalk using their phone. There was no crime, the officer cleared. 

8/15/2023 @ 10:21 pm. A truck pulling a camper hit an elk at the 20 mile-marker on Highway 13. There were no injuries, however Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept. responded for fluid that was leaking. 

8/16/2023 @ 6:43 pm. A wildland fire started as a small brush fire near the Deserado Mine. The fire was likely started from lightening, Rangely Fire Dept., BLM Fire Dept. and Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office responded. Road and Bridge handled the road closures in the area. The Fire was 100% contained on 8/20/2023 and the final size determination was 1,131 acres.  

8/17/2023 @ 8:40 am. What started out as a possible stolen vehicle within the town limits of Meeker from an auto shop turned out to be a slight mix-up. Another auto shop took the wrong vehicle by mistake. 

8/18/2023 @ 9:11 pm. A male party was reportedly walking on and near the white line of the road near the intersection of County Road 105 & Highway 139. The male advised the deputy that responded that he was walking from Oregon to Oklahoma. The deputy educated the traveler on safety tips for walking near the roadway. 

8/19/2023 @ 11:55 am. A smoke report came into the Communications Center in the Buckskin Valley area.  Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept. responded. At 2:31 pm the fire was contained and controlled. 

8/19/2023 @ 9:57 pm.  A wedding venue was disrupted when several people were reported to be “getting crazy.” The dispatcher could hear screaming and was advised that there was fighting and people had been drinking. The suspects that had caused the ruckus cleared the scene before deputies arrived.
