ARRESTS
Sept. 1: Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 42-year-old man on a warrant and for violation of a protection order. He was taken to jail and released on bond.
Sept. 3: Rangely Police Department arrested a 30-year-old man on a warrant. He was taken to jail and released on bond.
Sept. 4: Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 39-year-old man on charges of felony eluding, DUI and driving under restraint. He was taken to jail and released on a personal recognizance bond.
Sept. 5: Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 66-year-old man on a menacing charge. He was taken to jail and released on bond.
CALLS FOR SERVICE
More bears, fires, flash floods and an eluding go-kart … because apparently we weren’t busy enough
FUN FACT: Since July 12, Rio Blanco County Communications has received 94 bear calls — and counting. At this point, the bears have officially become regulars. We’re just waiting for one to call 911 and report a suspicious human in its neighborhood.
Aug. 31, 2:51 p.m. — Highway 64 was impacted by a flash flood between County Road 5 and County Road 77. CDOT closed the highway, which reopened a short time later.
Sept. 2, 10:24 a.m. — A single-vehicle rollover occurred at the bottom of Mellen Hill on Highway 64. The vehicle had one occupant, who was not injured. Colorado State Patrol is investigating.
Sept. 3, 11:13 a.m. — Meeker Volunteer Fire Department responded to a reported wildfire near County Road 69. The fire was under control by 3:32 p.m.
Sept. 4, 4:04 p.m. — Deputies and Meeker Police Department found themselves dealing with a go-kart driver who decided to elude law enforcement. After what may have been the slowest attempt at eluding in Rio Blanco County history, the driver was eventually apprehended and taken into custody without incident.
Sept. 5, 5:22 p.m. — Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office and Meeker Police Department responded to a County Road 60 address for a disturbance. A woman reported being threatened with weapons. A male subject was taken into custody without incident.
