RIO HAPPENINGS: DEC 15-21, 2024

ARRESTS

12/19/2024- A 33 year-old male was arrested on a warrant for 2nd Degree Assault and Domestic Violence. He was taken to jail and bonded out on 12/21/2024.

12/20/2024- A 41 year-old male was arrested on a warrant for Contributing to Delinquency of a Minor and Child Abuse. He was taken to jail.

CALL SUMMARIES

12/15/2024 @ 12:50 am. Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office assisted Rangely PD with a verbal disturbance.The disturbance occurred because a minor had received a tattoo without adult permission.

12/15/2024 @ 2:53 pm. A suspicious male party was called in to the Communications Center. It was reported that he was yelling at himself and wandering in circles near a local fuel station. While officers were handling this situation, a Bureau of Land Management officer came across an unattended crash on Highway 64. It was determined to be this person’s vehicle. CSP is handling the accident investigation.

12/17/2024 @ 12:46 am. The same fellow from the above call was called in decorating Christmas trees in front of a local business in Meeker. The officer advised the male party to pick up the quarters he had also scattered and had him move on. Later that day, this male was voluntarily taken to Rifle to get him closer to his final destination.

12/18/2024 @ 12:30 pm. A male party was arrested by Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office for suspected DUI after a routine traffic stop. He was issued a summons for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs, Possessed an Open Alcohol Container in Vehicle, Possessed an Open Marijuana Container in Vehicle and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was released to a sober party.

12/19/2024 @ 12:50 am. A domestic violence resulting in injuries was reported to the Communications Center. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle before law enforcement arrived. A warrant was issued for his arrest. He was located by Meeker PD at 3:15 pm later the same day and taken into custody without incident.

12/19/2024 @ 9:19 am. A traffic complaint involving a garbage truck was called in to the Communications Center in the town limits of Meeker. A deputy located the suspected garbage truck on Shaman Trail and the male driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI after further investigation. He was issued a summons for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs and released to a sober party.

12/19/2024 A person was transported from Denver County jail on a 20 year old warrant for Driving While Ability Impaired. The person was given a PR Bond by the judge and then did not show up for his next court hearing.

12/19/2024 @ 4:17 pm. A verbal disturbance was reported at an address on the west side of the County. It was reported to have been physical. However, upon the deputy’s arrival and investigation, there were no statements or evidence of a physical altercation and in fact, the male party left the residence before things progressed. The parties remained separated.

12/21/2024 @ 7:14 am. Two dogs were euthanized after they had attacked several sheep at a neighboring property. Sheriff’s note: If your dog is found chasing or bothering livestock, they can be shot! Colorado law allows dogs to be killed that “are found to be running, worrying or injuring sheep, cattle or other livestock” The Sheriff’s Office supports this law and encourages livestock producers to protect their livestock by killing any dog that worries livestock.

12/21/2024 @ 11:55 am. A male party was transported to the hospital after he had been maced during a verbal argument. The disturbance occurred in town limits of Meeker.

12/21/2024 @ 12:43 pm. A reported elk had been hit near Pioneers Medical Center on Highway 13 and the elk was deceased as a result. The elk was actually a deer and in fact was deceased when an officer arrived on scene.
