ARRESTS
A 32 year old male was arrested on 12/21/2023 for a warrant out of Clear Creek County. He was transported to jail.
A 37 year old male was arrested on 12/22/2023 for a warrant out of Craig Municipal. He was transported to jail where he was released on a PR bond.
A 50 year old male was arrested on 12/19/2023 and transported from Sterling on a Rio Blanco County felony warrant.
CALL SUMMARIES
12/18/2023 @ 11:45 am. A semi was parked along Highway 64 and was called in as the driver acting suspicious. Upon further investigation, it was discovered the driver had locked himself out of the cab of his truck.
12/18/2023 @ 3:47 pm. A male party that was at the Rifle library and said to be a transient called 911 which was transferred to Rio Blanco. Male party claiming there was a home invasion and medical help needed off of county Road 60. Sheriff’s Deputy, State Patrol, Meeker PD and EMS responded to the area, where an investigation lead to everything being fine and it was said the reporting male party left the residence the night before and went to Rifle. Rifle PD reported the same male party reporting the same incident within Rifle jurisdiction earlier that day. This type of call is known as a swatting.
12/18/2023 @ 9:00 pm. large fire close to mile marker 20 highway 13, nobody appeared to be around the fire and/or tending to it. Sheriff’s Deputy and Meeker Fire responded to find it as a controlled burn that was not reported, owner was reminded to call disaptch to report any controlled burns.
12/19/2023 @ 10:00 am. 51 cattle were stolen up Flag Creek sometime at the end of summer and fall. This investigation has been turned over to the brand inspector.
12/19/2023 @ 11:26 pm. A silver Lexus occupied by a male and female were out on a “cruise” and missed the curve at mile marker 40 highway 13, however they ended up stuck and caused some damage to their vehicle. The driver was taken into custody for DUI.
12/21/2023 @ 1:36 pm 71 year old male experiencing weakness, unable to drink and dehydrated. Transport to Pioneers Hospital.
12/22/2023 @ 4:41pm. Report of a red Jeep Wrangler trespassing on county road 2, it was discovered grandma, grandpa and grandson were very apologetic for being on private as they thought they were on public lands. Owner didn’t want to press charges, just gave grandpa and grandma a stern warning.
12/23/2023 @ 04:03 am The snow made its presence known throughout Rio Blanco which made it a winter wonderland. Icy conditions, traveling for Christmas and locking keys in vehicles came with the snow. Rio Blanco responded to five different vehicles off the road and three different lockouts. One of the crashes off of Highway 64 at mile marker 28 resulted with a transport to Rangely District Hospital with injuries.
